M31 The Andromeda Galaxy. At 2.5 million light years from us, this is the closest spiral galaxy to our own. It appears as wide as 6 full moons in the sky, so it is quite large. The center of M31 is visible with the naked eye under good seeing conditions.
This was shot from Vanderpool, TX on November 28, 2011 with a new moon. The temperatures were in the mid 30's.
